Kathi
Kathi dance is a traditional folk dance of Madhya Pradesh state. It is the festival of the Nimar region. This is the festival of worship of Parvati. This festival starts from Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi and ends on Mahashivratri. In this way, the festival of Kathi lasts for four months, in the dance goes on. It is an ethnic dance. From the day of Ekadashi, the flag (flag) of Kathi Mata goes up. The dancers wear veils. There are usually three to eight to ten dancers in a Kathi party, who are called Bhagat. Kathi Mata always accompanies the devotees on the journey(ferry).
There are two main dancers, who are called Bada and Chhota Bhagat. Rajulya, who does service keeping a Kathi Mata, is a Khordar who plays a plate. Khordar repeats stories with thali playing, performs meanings, dances in simple costumes, and adds new dialogues between songs in an instant. While dancing, the Bhagat always keeps the goddess on the throne of a wooden plate or pavdi. Kathi’s dance takes place in front of the goddess.
