Kavita Krishnamurthy is an Indian playback singer who primarily works in the Indian film industry. She was born on January 25, 1958, in New Delhi, India.

Kavita started her career in the music industry as a playback singer in the 1980s and has recorded songs for several Bollywood films, including “Mr. India,” “Saudagar,” “Darr,” and “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” among others. She has also sung for Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali films.

Kavita is best known for her song “Hawa Hawai” from the film “Mr. India,” which became a huge hit and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1988. She has also won several other awards for her contributions to the Indian music industry, including the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1996 for the song “Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya” from the film “Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.”
