Gangubai Hangal, born on March 5, 1913, was a renowned Indian classical vocalist, hailing from the Kirana Gharana (school) of music. She was born in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, and is considered one of the leading female Hindustani classical vocalists of the 20th century.
